A few weeks ago I talked about what’s really driving autoimmune disease. This week I want to get specific about autoimmune thyroid, or Hashimoto’s.
Your thyroid is not the problem.
I want to talk about this because so many people are doing everything they’re told, and still not getting better.
I know that firsthand.
Years ago, I was dealing with constant fatigue and weight gain, even though I was barely eating enough. At the time, no one could really help me understand what was going on.
So I studied. Deeply.
I immersed myself in studying blood chemistry, hormones, autoimmune patterns, and eventually Shaka Vansya Ayurveda, which changed how I understood the body entirely.
Like so many people, I then did everything I was told to do – supported my thyroid, adjusted nutrition, followed the protocols.
And even then… something still wasn’t resolving the way I expected.
That’s the part no one really explains. Because the focus stays on the thyroid.
In Shaka Vansya Ayurveda, we look at this differently.
The thyroid is not where this starts.
Think about what the body is asked to filter today – not just food, but a constant stream of chemicals, medications, stress hormones, environmental exposures. The liver was never meant to deal with this kind of load all day, every day.
When the liver is chronically overloaded, it doesn’t just slow down. It runs hot.
And because all blood passes through the liver, that heat doesn’t stay in one place. It moves. Into the bloodstream, and from there, into every system the blood touches.
Including the thyroid. And the immune system.
The immune system depends on precision. On the ability to clearly recognize what belongs and what doesn’t. But in a heated environment, that clarity starts to break down. And when that happens, the immune system can begin reacting in ways it normally wouldn’t, including toward the thyroid itself.
That’s what we call autoimmune thyroid.
But it’s not really about the thyroid. It’s about the environment the immune system is operating in.
Which is why so many people can be doing everything right for their thyroid and still not feel like themselves.
If that’s you, you’re not missing something. You may just be looking in the wrong place.
I’m curious to hear your experience.
and I’m glad you’re here.
With care,
