I’ve practiced Jin Shin Jyutsu for years.
It’s a gentle Japanese healing art that uses simple hand placements on the body to support its natural ability to find balance.
I use the self-help holds regularly myself and, when appropriate, I share them with those I work with because they’re simple, safe, deeply healing, and self-empowering.
I’ve experienced some beautiful things over the years, but every now and then something happens that still surprises me.
A few mornings ago was one of those moments.
I woke up feeling heavy. A headache on the right side of my head was getting worse, and I had a full day ahead of me.
So I lay down and did one simple Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help hold.
I wasn’t expecting anything dramatic. I just wanted to give my body a little support.
Within a minute or two, my right eye began making tiny, rapid movements on its own. I could feel the right side of my head unwinding from the inside.
The heaviness lifted, the headache disappeared, and I never even finished the sequence.
My body had already begun doing what it needed to do.
Experiences like this never stop amazing me.
They remind me that the body often knows exactly what to do.
Sometimes it simply needs the right signal at the right time.
That lesson has shaped the way I think about healing. It’s rarely about forcing the body to do something it doesn’t want to do. More often, it’s about creating the conditions that allow it to do what it already knows how to do.
That’s one of the reasons I continue to practice Jin Shin Jyutsu after all these years.
I’m curious to hear your experience.
and I’m glad you’re here.
With care,
