Anxiety by 10 a.m.? You might be skipping one thing your body absolutely needs.

You wake up fine. But by mid-morning you’re anxious, scattered, spaced out — and nothing stressful has even happened yet.

I see this often.

And there’s a real reason for it.

In Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda, your digestive fire — Pachak Pitta — wakes up ready to work. It’s meant to metabolize food and create the fuel you need for the day.

But if you don’t eat something within the first hour — even something small — that fire has nothing to act on.

So it turns inward.

And when it does, it starts consuming the protective nourishment meant for your brain and nervous system — what we call Tarpaka Kapha.

The result? Anxiety by 10 a.m. Spaciness. Mental fog. Irritability. A sense of being completely ungrounded.

Your body isn’t broken. It’s hungry.

And here’s what’s interesting: modern research is finally confirming what Ayurveda has taught for thousands of years. Eating within the first hour of waking stabilizes blood sugar, supports metabolic rhythm, and reduces cortisol spikes.

One study even found that delaying breakfast significantly increased mortality risk.

I know intermittent fasting is popular right now. And yes — giving digestion a rest can be helpful for some people.

But here’s what I see: women with sensitive systems, hormone imbalances, electromagnetic reactivity, or nervous system dysregulation often feel worse with long fasting windows.

The anxiety ramps up. The brain fog thickens. The body interprets fasting as threat.

This isn’t about eating a big breakfast. It’s about giving your digestive fire something to metabolize — so it stays balanced and doesn’t burn the very tissues that stabilize your mind.

A few simple options: five to seven almonds soaked overnight, a warm stewed apple with cloves, or any small warm easy-to-digest bite.

Then when real hunger arrives, eat your proper breakfast.

Vaidya Mishra saw this pattern in meditators who would wake and sit for hours without food.

When he’d feel their pulse, the same disturbances appeared every time — anxiety rising, imbalance climbing into the head.

That’s when he created the stewed apple protocol. A simple, powerful way to ground the body and protect the mind first thing in the morning.

I recommend the stewed apple protocol for this. It’s grounding, sattvic, and most people don’t even want coffee afterward.

I’ve watched this single shift change everything. Clearer thinking. Less reactivity. More grounded mornings. Energy that actually lasts.

If you want the stewed apple recipe, comment below and I’ll send it to you.

The morning begins with what you feed your body first.
